winter-, seringen- en vlindertuin

catalogue number: hdv 2012.112.1
date created: 2012-2024
classification: installations
work type: environment
medium: in 2012, herman de vries designed three gardens in Diepenheim on a plot owned by the municipality of Hof van Twente. On the side of the Raadhuisstraat is the winter garden with shrubs that bloom in winter and early spring (hamamelis, ribes and viburnum). The lilac garden is located in the middle of the site. Almost all types of lilacs are represented in it. Shrubs have been planted adjacent to the water (Regge) that attract butterflies in the summer. The flowers are important for the butterflies, nettles, privet and grasses are necessary for the caterpillars.
herman de vries added a small reference library to the design of the gardens. The library is housed in the Kunstvereniging building on the Grotestraat.
